For trampoline gymnasts aged 8+ (Levels 1-4, Novice/5, Junior, 6, 7 and Senior) in Gymnastics Canada sanctioned competition, 2026. Covers levels and ages, mobility, qualifying, routines, finals, ties, penalties, dress, protests and awards.
Gymnastics Canada's 2026 pathway for individual trampoline (TRI) has these levels and ages:
| Level | Age range |
|---|---|
| Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 | 8+ |
| Novice / Level 5 | 11+ (national events split: Novice 14U, 15-16, 17+) |
| Junior | 13-16 |
| Level 6 | 17+ |
| Level 7 | 17+ |
| Senior | 17+ |
Your age is your age on December 31 of the competition year. Provinces may set age splits for Levels 1-7 (except Junior and Senior) based on registration numbers.
The same pathway also covers synchronized trampoline (TRS), tumbling (TUM) and double mini trampoline (DMT). Synchronized pairs from different provinces are permitted at all National levels.
This guide uses the 2026 Canadian Pathways and Competition Rules published 14 December 2025. They follow the FIG Trampoline Code of Points 2025-2028, and the FIG Code is the authority in a dispute.

Any athlete may enter the sport in Levels 1-4. To register in a higher category you must meet a mobility standard in the previous category, and all of the requirements for that level must be met at the same time. Once you have competed in a level you ordinarily may not move down. Petitions to enter at a higher level or move to a lower one go to GymCan through your Provincial TG Technical Committee.
Individual trampoline (TRI) mobility standards
| From | To | Based on | Women (score / DD) | Men (score / DD) | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| L4 | L5 | Prelim (including bonus) | 89.6 / 7.7 | 89.6 / 7.7 | Double salto |
| L5 | Junior or L6 | Prelim | 85.8 / 9.2 | 87.2 / 10.1 | none |
| Junior | L6 | By age (17+) | n/a | n/a | none |

| Junior | Senior | 2nd voluntary or final | 50.9 / 12.7 | 53.7 / 14.5 | none |
Moving from L7 to Senior is based on any routine. Level 4 athletes can mobilize only at their first 5 competitions each season. Provinces must give GymCan the list of athletes who met mobility after each Provincial Cup, otherwise the athlete is not eligible to compete in the new category.

Levels 1-4: Routine 1 is a compulsory routine performed as written (no DD is given). Routine 2 and the final routine are voluntary routines of 10 elements, with a bonus equal to the DD. DD ranges: Level 1 1.9-3.9, Level 2 3.9-5.2, Level 3 5.2-6.5, Level 4 6.5-7.9. These levels compete at provincial events (Provincial Cups and Provincial Championships).

Level 7 and Senior: two voluntary routines of 10 elements in Q1, and the best one counts, then a voluntary final.

Tie in Q1:
Tie in finals, or still tied in Q1, using the second exercise (Levels 1-6 and Junior) or the counting exercise (Level 7 and Senior):
3. The gymnast with the higher T score (S score for synchronized).
4. The gymnast with the higher H score.
5. The gymnast with the higher D score.
If there is still a tie, it will not be broken.
Provinces can add their own tie-breaking rules for Levels 1-4.

A 4 execution judge system is used, with the highest and lowest scores per element removed. The Competition Jury list must be posted before the start of the competition. Time of Flight is part of all trampoline score calculations.
Protests
Unsportsmanlike conduct (for example swearing, or disrespectful or unsafe behaviour towards officials, coaches, other competitors or volunteers) is penalized by the Chair of the Panel with 0.6. It could also mean disqualification or removal from the venue.

The province or club is responsible for providing the required spotters.
When warm-up is held in the competition gym, all competitors and coaches must dress in competition attire or equivalent. A violation costs a 0.2 penalty, deducted from the total score of your first exercise.
Silicone socks and shoes are not permitted.

Gymnasts who are not present for their award (medal or ribbon) will not receive it, and may not receive the credit or the score they obtained during the competition. The exception is special permission given in advance by a GymCan representative. The Trampoline & Tumbling Program Committee (TTPC) makes that decision.
No awards are handed out for Third/Technical Trials.
For the awards ceremony you must wear a full club track suit at Elite Canada, or a full provincial track suit at the National Championships. Athletes on the current Junior or Senior National Teams wear the National Team track suit instead. If you break this dress rule, you do not receive your award.
