For All Star cheerleaders aged 4 and over competing at Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) events, 2026 season. Covers levels and age divisions, team and gym sizes, crossovers, stunt and tumbling safety, Novice rules, deductions, time limits and uniform.
AASCF runs championships across Australia from June to November, and AASCF Nationals is the final championship of the season, where teams compete to be National Champion.
The next question has the birth years for each division.
Eligibility is set by the years of birth on the 2026 AASCF Cheer Age Grid (V6, 18 February 2026), not by exact age:
| Division | Years of birth | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Tiny Novice / Tiny | 2022-2020 / 2021-2020 | Novice / 1 |
| Mini Novice / Mini | 2022-2017 / 2021-2017 | Novice / 1, 2 |
| Youth Novice / Youth | 2021-2014 / 2020-2014 | Novice / 1-4 |
| Junior Novice | 2019-2011 | Novice |
| Junior | 2018-2011 | 1-4 |
| Junior | 2016-2010 | 5, 6 |
| Senior Novice | 2016-2008 | Novice |
| Senior | 2015-2008 | 1, 2 (All Girl and Mixed 3-5) |
| Senior (All Girl or Mixed) | 2013-2008 | 6 |
| Open | 2012 or earlier | 1-6 (including NT) |
| Open | 2010 or earlier | 7, 7NT |
| Adult | 2008 or earlier | 1NT, 2NT |
Mixed means 1 or more males. Scholastic Primary School is Foundation to Year 6 (Novice to Level 2), and High School is Year 7 to 12 (Novice to Level 3). CheerABILITY (Independent and Unified) is for all ages, Levels 1 to 4. University divisions are for registered university students.
Most divisions allow 5 to 38 members per team. University divisions are 6 to 38, and IASF Summit divisions are 16 to 30 members. Where applicable, divisions are split by team size: Extra Small 5 to 15 athletes, Small 16 to 24, Large 25 to 30, Extra Large 31 to 38.
Gym size is set by the number of competition athletes in the program, not the number entered at one event:
Exhibition, crossover, CheerABILITY, non-competing and dance athletes do not count. Once set, a gym cannot move down to a smaller size during the season, but can move up. A gym that shares an ABN and uniforms, logo, coaches, athletes or marketing with a larger gym counts as the larger size.
From the 2026 AASCF Age Grid and Crossover Rules (cheer):
AASCF says it places athlete safety before anything else. All levels are as defined by the IASF rules, and the IASF Cheer Legality Rules outline the rules for All Star Cheer Levels 1 to 7. University Elite and Premier follow the ICU (International Cheer Union) rules, and other University divisions follow the IASF legality rules. Novice divisions follow the AASCF Novice Cheer Rules.
In scoring and judging:
Novice is a modified version of Level 1 for beginner teams, offered to all ages except Open and Adult. It is optional for new teams and has a 2 minute 30 second routine limit. From the 2026 AASCF Novice Cheer Rules:
Coaches are responsible for making sure any skill in a routine complies with the IASF Cheer Legality Rules. The AASCF Skill List gives examples of level-appropriate skills but is not a comprehensive list of what can be performed.
Legality rulings by email:
From the 2026 AASCF Cheer Deduction System:
A building safety violation includes a skill that is performed illegally and appears inherently dangerous or unsafe, or one missing the number of athletes required to perform it legally (for example, not having the required catchers for a cradle).
Novice teams receive warnings instead of deductions for athlete falls, or where a rule violation was the result of a performance error.
From the 2026 AASCF Cheer Deduction System:
From the 2026 AASCF Cheer Image Policy:
A breach of the image policy is a 0.25 deduction.
From the 2026 AASCF Cheer Image Policy:
The AASCF documents reviewed for this guide do not set a separate rule on body jewellery.
