Triathlon Canada uses two achievement markers:
- Registered: the official has completed the basic registration requirements and the Safe Sport requirements. Registered officials appear on a national registry.
- Certified: the official has completed the evaluation requirements for a specific context, including tests on the Competition Rules and operational procedures for their assigned sector or sectors.
Certification levels run from Provincial Technical Official (PTO-1 and PTO-2, run by the provincial sport organizations), to National Technical Official (run by Triathlon Canada), to the World Triathlon levels (CTO and ITO).
