The Provincial Technical Official (PTO) level is run by the provincial sport organizations (PSOs), and most officials in Canada hold it.
- PTO-1 (Level 1): covers officiating roles, age-group competition rules and the penalty system.
- PTO-2 (Level 2): adds sector operations and management.
Revalidation criteria are set by each PSO. At national championships, sector chiefs are PTO-2 or higher at the larger events and sector assistants are PTO or higher.
