According to the 2026 National Technical Official Handbook, for national events:
- The Triathlon Canada Technical Committee (TCTC) assigns the Technical Delegate (TD) and Assistant Technical Delegate (aTD).
- The host PSO sends the TCTC a list of eligible officials.
- The TCTC asks the TD for out-of-region (OOR) submissions.
- The TD and TCTC select the Head Referee.
- The TD and aTD select the technical team from the eligible list provided by the PSO.
To be considered for a leadership role at a national event, send an expression of interest to officials@triathloncanada.com. Leadership roles are selected in February each year, after the annual re-certification process is complete.
At international events in Canada, World Triathlon or the Pan American Triathlon Confederation assigns the TD and aTD, and the TD must be an international technical official. Officials assigned by those bodies may not also hold national championship leadership positions on the same event weekend.
