According to Triathlon Canada's National Technical Official Handbook:
- Who pays: Triathlon Canada compensates NTOs and above for the roles it selects. Payments are typically processed in the fall as one e-transfer for all assignments in the season. The rest of a national event's technical team is paid at the host provincial sport organization's standard rate card.
- Per diems: paid only for meals the event does not provide. Triathlon Canada's base rate is a maximum of $50 per day ($10 breakfast, $15 lunch, $25 dinner). Lunch is usually provided, so the typical per diem is $35. Provincial organizations set their own per diem rates where designated.
- Travel stipends: provided only for designated roles and only if the official had to travel. The amounts are maximums and proof of expenses is required.
- Grants: small grants typically go to Technical Delegates. The Assistant Technical Delegate is generally a mentee position and gets no grant at national events.
- Accommodation: the local organizing committee must provide approved accommodation and airport transfers for non-local officials (more than 100 km away).
