Which road race results are recognized for rankings, records and qualifying?
Rule- Canada
- Athletics Canada
- Road running
- Race sanctioning
- All ages
- 2026
- Runners
Only performances at road races that meet all of these are eligible for provincial, national or international rankings, records and qualification standards (for example National Team events or the Boston Marathon):
- The event is sanctioned by the Provincial/Territorial Branch in the year of competition.
- The course holds a valid Course Measurement Certificate for that year.
- The course meets the applicable technical requirements set by Athletics Canada and World Athletics.
From January 1, 2027, performances at unsanctioned road races are not recognized for rankings, records or qualification purposes. Downhill and point-to-point courses have extra limits (see the next questions).
