What does the 1-Day Participant License cost and what does it give me?
Rule- Canada
- Athletics Canada
- Road running
- Race sanctioning
- All ages
- 2026
- Runners
It costs $5.00 per participant, per event. Athletics Canada says it provides:
- Insurance coverage for the event
- Alignment with required safety standards
- Inclusion of your results in National Rankings
- Eligibility for Provincial and National Championship awards
It is a single-event license that lets you compete in a sanctioned road or trail race without holding a full Provincial/Territorial Branch membership. You get it during race registration through supported registration platforms. If you have a valid membership, it is recognized automatically; if not, the $5 license is added at checkout. The majority of the funds stay in your province or territory and approximately 25% goes to Athletics Canada.
