How far can I race in a youth road race?

Under section 12.1 of the Cycling SA Road Cycling Handbook 2026, the maximum road race distances are the same for boys and girls:

| U15 | 60 km |
| U17 | 80 km at National and Provincial Championships; 105 km at other road events |
- These limits are strictly enforced (section 12.2).
- The National Youth Championships use the same maximum distances (section 16.1).
- A race longer than your limit counts as an endurance event: you may ride it only in the Open category, with no podium for your age group (section 12.4).
