Under Rule 11:
- The whole playing field is in-bounds. The perimeter lines are out, and so are all non-players and anything touching the out-of-bounds ground. Defensive players are always treated as in-bounds.
- The goal line is part of the central zone, not the end zone.
- An airborne player keeps their in or out status until they land.
- A receiver who catches the disc, lands in-bounds, then carries on out of bounds is still in-bounds, as long as they keep the catch. They then bring the disc back to where they crossed the line.
- It is an out-of-bounds turnover if any part of a receiver is out of bounds when they touch the disc, or if an airborne receiver's first landing is out of bounds while still holding the disc.
- The disc may fly outside a line and curve back in, and players may go out of bounds to make a play on it.
- A thrower who steps out of bounds is in-bounds until they throw.
- Contact between players does not pass in or out status from one to another.
After an out-of-bounds turnover, the new thrower restarts from the point on the central zone nearest to where the disc went out. On an unlined field, the boundary is an imaginary line between the cones.
