Under Rule 20 of the WFDF Rules of Ultimate 2025-2028:
- Signal a time-out by forming a "T" with your hands (or one hand and the disc) and calling "time-out".
- Before the pull: after a point starts and before both teams have signalled ready, a player from either team can call a time-out. It adds 75 seconds before the pull.
- After the pull: only the thrower in possession can call a time-out. It lasts 75 seconds, and then:
- no substitutions, except for injury
- play restarts at the pivot location with the same thrower
- the other offensive players take up stationary positions anywhere, then the defence does the same
- the stall count restarts at maximum 9 (or at 1 if the marker has changed)
- If a thrower tries to call a time-out in live play when their team has none left, play stops and 2 seconds are added to the stall count; if that takes it to 10 or more, it is a stall-out turnover.
The number of time-outs per game is set by the event's rules.
