For Junior A box lacrosse players (21 and under) in Canada, 2026 season (Lacrosse Canada Regulations, 2026 LC Modifications, World Lacrosse 2026-28 Box Rules). Covers age limits, affiliation, signing and transfer rules, import limits, Minto Cup qualification and registration, and key game rules.
Under the Lacrosse Canada Regulations, the Junior category is for players aged 21 and under. The other categories are: Senior 22 and over, U19 (17 and 18), U17 (15-16), U15 (13-14), U13 (11-12), U11 (9-10), U9 (7-8) and U7 (5-6). Junior Masters is 22-34 and Senior Masters is 35 and over.
Age is the age a player will be in the calendar year (January 1 to December 31) of the current playing season. The regulations give an example for U19: a player cannot turn 19 at any time during the calendar year to be eligible. Junior A is a level within the Junior category, so the same limit applies.
The Lacrosse Canada Regulations set an affiliation structure that lets players of affiliated teams compete with the higher-category team in association playdowns, provided the Member sends a list of the applicable affiliations to the national office on or before August 10.
