Under the OBA Rules and Regulations Manual 2026-2027:
Before the first practice, every coach and manager must have:
- A vulnerable-sector check (VSC) from their local police, no more than three years old, uploaded to their Ramp profile and verified by the club. Other types of check are not accepted unless OBA confirms otherwise in writing.
- The NCCP Safe Sport online module and the NCCP Anti-Racism in Coaching module.
- Rowan's Law concussion education.
- Agreement to the OBA Zero Tolerance Policy and the OBA Code of Conduct and Ethics.
NCCP certification by level:
| Level | Head coach | Assistant coach |
|---|---|---|
| U10 to U12 | Certified Learn to Train | Trained Learn to Train |
| U13 to U14 | Certified Train to Train | Trained Train to Train |
| U15 to U19 | Certified Train to Train | Trained Train to Train |
A team whose coaches or managers do not meet the certification standards faces removal from all OBA-sanctioned competitions. Only staff assigned to the roster in Ramp may sit on the team bench. Coaches must also sign a coach contract, and every player must sign an athlete contract agreeing to follow guidelines consistent with the OBA Code of Conduct and Ethics.
