Ontario Basketball's rules limit this. The manual defines the OSBA (Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association) as a high-performance league for scholastic teams, typically high schools or prep programs, that operates separately from club rep basketball.
- One OBA-affiliated team: each athlete may play on only one OBA-affiliated team per Ontario Basketball season (except as a call-up within their club), even when playing in other leagues. A player found on more than one team may be suspended from all OBA-sanctioned activities for the rest of that season and the following one, and both teams face penalties and possible removal from OBA-sanctioned competition.
- OSBA players on club rosters: OBL rosters, Ontario Cup rosters and Provincial Championship rosters must not contain more than three OSBA or OSBA D-League players. Clubs must disclose those players as OBA directs. Failing to disclose can mean games those players took part in lose sanctioned status and the player is ineligible on the club team.
- OSBA rostering: for OSBA organizations, all Ramp registrations and roster-eligibility forms must be completed by September 15.
- One Championship: a player may not take part in more than one Ontario Basketball Championship in a season. Teams with repeat Championship participants face disqualification.
The 2026-27 manual does not address other school sport programs.
