Under UKA Rule G2 S1:
- All athletes in the Under 14 age group and above must be registered with their home country federation (England Athletics in England), normally through their club, and comply with its terms, including payment.
- An athlete who isn't registered is liable to disqualification, and the result is worked out as if they hadn't competed.
- A child registering for the first time gets one week's grace, so the club can register them just after a competition they have already taken part in.
- For Under 12s and Under 10s, registration is up to England Athletics' own policy.
Individual (non-team) runners in road races are excluded from the registration rule, but must be registered to score for a club team.
