Yes, but outside the formal UKA Rules for Competition, which only apply from Under 14 upwards.
- UK Athletics and the home country federations strongly encourage competition for Under 10s and Under 12s. The aim is to introduce children to running, jumping and throwing in a fun setting where their safety is paramount.
- Competitions are typically multi-event and team-based "run, jump, throw" formats. England Athletics points to its funetics multi-challenge as an example.
- The federations also publish technical guidance for individual events offered to Under 12s, for example 75m hurdles (boys) or 70m hurdles (girls) at 0.685m, and a 2kg shot.
- Under 12s may not compete against Under 14s.
In England, Under 10 covers school years 3 and 4, and Under 12 covers years 5 and 6.
