Each team can request two 90 second timeouts per half. The 90 seconds is a set period, not "up to" 90 seconds.
- An on-court player asks either umpire by saying "Time Out", only between the scoring of a goal and the restart of play.
- The next timeout can be called by either team after another goal is scored.
- Once one team requests a timeout, both teams may use it.
- Any bench player on the official score sheet can come on court, and both teams can make substitutions and team changes.
- Medical treatment (on court, by the primary carer) and hydration can be provided within the 90 seconds.
- A warning whistle sounds with 10 seconds left and players return to position. Play does not resume until the 90 seconds is up.
- A team that delays taking the court is penalised with a penalty pass, advanced up to half a third.
- No tactical timeouts can be taken in extra time.
