Volleyball Canada 2026-27 rulebook (rule 4.1.1): a team may include up to 15 players, all of whom may be in uniform, warm up and sit on the bench. The rulebook registers 12 on the score sheet and only those 12 may play in a given match; the 12 may change from match to match. Assistant coaches may replace the head coach. For the match, up to one coach and two assistant coaches are allowed, plus one team therapist and one medical doctor (who must be a certified medical person).
For Nationals, the 2026 Youth Nationals guide says (the 2027 guide was not yet available, so details may change):
- a roster has a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 players; for 15U to 18U events, up to 15 players may be in uniform, warm up, sit on the bench and take part in any match (this differs from the rulebook's 12 on the score sheet, which the guide applies to 14U)
- a maximum of four team personnel on the roster: one head coach, up to three assistant coaches, and a team manager
- only people on the official roster may sit on the bench
- a person may not be head coach of two teams in the same tournament
- the roster must be submitted to Volleyball Canada, and the players must match the provincial or territorial association (PTA) championship roster
- team personnel must hold the right Volleyball Canada Leader membership, and roster changes after the PTA roster lock cost $50 (personnel) or $100 (player) through an exemption request
