Every batter faces a set number of balls and retires as soon as they have faced it (not at the end of the over). All balls count, including wides and no balls. The batter swaps ends after a dismissal, and after a run out the not-out batter faces the next delivery.
| Players in team | 15-over match | 20-over match |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 18 balls | 24 balls |
| 6 | 15 balls | 20 balls |
| 7 | 12 balls | 17 balls |
| 8 | 11 balls | 15 balls |
| 9 | 10 balls | 13 balls |
Dismissals are unlimited in this format, so each player faces their allotted balls.
