Do I need a Triathlon South Africa licence, or can I race on a day licence?

According to Triathlon South Africa's registration and licensing information:
- A TSA licence is valid for a full year from the date you buy it. You buy it through your province, so make sure you choose the right one. There are no refunds.
- Athletes with a TSA licence are not charged day licence fees at TSA-sanctioned events (those on the TSA events calendar). Athletes without a TSA licence pay a day licence fee at those events.
- Recreational licences are available in some provinces only, and can't be upgraded. If you later want to be considered for team selection, such as TSA's age-group team selections, you will need to buy a full licence as well.
Racing rules: TSA is World Triathlon's member federation in South Africa, so the World Triathlon Competition Rules apply. The 2026 edition (amended 29 April 2026) covers age-group racing. TSA describes age-group racers as "World Triathletes".
