How do I apply for a WWC Check as a volunteer?
Rule- Western Australia
- WWC Check
- Department of Communities
- Child safety
- Adults 18+
- 2026
- Volunteers
- Get your club to confirm your role. The application includes parts completed by an organisation representative who confirms you are, or will be, doing child-related work for the club. Say that you are a volunteer so the volunteer fee applies.
- Apply in person at Australia Post using the application form (Guide APP06). Forms are hard copy and available from authorised Australia Post outlets. You must meet the ID requirements. If you can't, contact the WWC Screening Unit about a non-standard process, which is offered only in exceptional circumstances.
- Pay the fee (see the cost question).
- Keep your receipt. It stays valid for as long as it takes for an outcome to be made. If you move to WA from interstate or overseas, lodge your application on arrival.
You can withdraw an application at any time before a final decision, except after an interim negative notice has been issued for that application, and application fees are not refunded if you withdraw.
The WWC Screening Unit's number is 1800 883 979 (Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm), and its email is checkquery@communities.wa.gov.au.
