The RCMP says police search national databases maintained by the RCMP and local police records where you live. For private employment and volunteer positions, a check can release:
- Conviction information.
- Active (non-expired) absolute or conditional discharge information, only if prior convictions are on file.
- Suspended (pardoned) information, subject to the approval of the Minister.
For provincial government employment, the same information plus youth information can be released.
