How long does approval take, and can I volunteer while I wait?
- Australian Capital Territory

- WWVP registration

- Adults 18+
- Coaches
- Team managers
- Officials
- Parents
Average processing time is about 8 weeks. A risk assessment can push this beyond 60 working days. A nationally coordinated criminal history check is part of the assessment. Wait 4 weeks before contacting Access Canberra, then check your status online, call 13 22 81, or email WWVP@act.gov.au with your details and application number.
Volunteer applications are generally not prioritised for urgent processing unless exceptional circumstances apply, and work applications take priority.
You may volunteer while you wait only if all of these apply:
- the role is with the organisation named in your application, and it agrees
- you are supervised at all times by a WWVP registration holder
- you have no previous interim bar, negative notice, suspension, cancellation, or interstate working with children clearance
- any previous WWVP registration had no conditions or restrictions
