Access Canberra lists "coaching and tuition" among the regulated activities that provide services accessed by children or vulnerable people, and its scheme overview names coaching and club activities among the regulated activities. Other listed regulated activities include child education or care, child commercial services (including gyms), transport and religious activities.

Whether your particular volunteer role needs registration depends on whether you have regular contact in a regulated activity and no exemption applies.
