- Rules of Netball
During a match (including intervals and stoppages) team officials and bench players must not criticise the umpires or their decisions, use offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures, make excessive noise, encourage foul play, or enter the court (except in extreme circumstances where player safety is endangered).
- Sanction: a penalty pass to the non-infringing team, taken where the ball was when play stopped or where play was due to restart. No player has to stand out of play.
- Warning: either umpire may penalise this behaviour, and a warning may be given to one person or to all team officials and bench players of that team. A warning is a joint decision of both umpires.
- If they do not respond: the umpire asks the event organiser to remove them from the playing enclosure for the rest of the match. In a serious case the request can be made without a previous warning.
- Leaving the bench: team officials and bench players must stay at the team bench during play (bench players may leave for a valid reason such as warming up). Otherwise it is a free pass to the other team.
