England Netball's umpiring pathway
| Award | Entry requirements | What's involved |
|---|---|---|
| INTO Officiating Award | Age 13+ on the first course date. Full England Netball member, affiliated to your county | Two 2-hour virtual sessions (£45), then a 15-minute practical assessment arranged with your County Officiating Lead (£36). Apply for the practical within 2 years of your last session. There are separate courses for ages 13-17 and 18+ |
| C Award | Age 13+, member, holds the INTO Award | Course, an online written assessment set by Europe Netball, and a practical assessment (£70). For umpiring at a higher level within your county |
| B Award | Age 14+, member, holds the INTO Award and has done the C Award course | Blended course for umpiring at regional level, plus the A and B written assessment |
| A Award | Top of the pathway | Must be re-endorsed every 4 years by match report or re-assessment |
The INTO, C and B awards don't expire. You must keep meeting the award competencies and stay up to date with rule changes.
Eligibility to umpire: you may only take to court if you hold full England Netball membership (with its insurance) and are either qualified or "in training". In training means within 2 years of attending an INTO course. After that you must not umpire until you take a new INTO course.
