Bowls Australia accredits National Umpires. The Umpire module is the third module of National Umpire accreditation, alongside the Marker and Measurer modules (each of which can also be completed on its own for Marker or Measurer accreditation).
Requirements. National Umpires must be proficient markers and measurers with full knowledge of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls, and must be able to kneel to measure.
The Umpire module covers:
- pre-game, in-game and post-game duties;
- interpreting the laws and the structure of the law book;
- umpire duties;
- Bowls Australia domestic regulations and policies; and
- self-management and managing the competitive environment.
Steps.
- Contact your state or territory association's umpire contacts for upcoming courses: https://bowls.com.au/about-ba/state-and-territory-contacts/
- Get the current Laws of the Sport of Bowls (Crystal Mark Edition) and the Bowls Australia Officiating Manual for Marker, Measurer and National Umpire (listed at $29.95).
