- Timekeepers
The timekeeping official:
- operates the game clock showing the time remaining, and, if the scoreboard is capable, displays the score, the period and the time remaining in penalties being served;
- signals the end of each period if the rink has no automatic buzzer or siren, or if it fails;
- tracks the time remaining with a stopwatch, if available, or an ordinary wristwatch if the game clock malfunctions;
- times the thirty seconds of team timeouts where possible without interrupting the game or penalty time; and
- signs the Official Game Report at the end of the game and returns it to the scorekeeper.
The on-ice officials decide any dispute about the time remaining, and game time is adjusted only with their sanction.
