How do I check that our players are eligible?
Rule- Western Australia
- WA Football
- Junior football
- Years 3-6
- Modified competitions
- PlayHQ
- 2026
- Team managers
The Team Manager must ensure every player is registered, active in PlayHQ, holds a current permit if needed, and is not under suspension. Playing an ineligible player forfeits the match.
Key checks (2026 handbook):
- Registration: nobody plays until registration is approved and shows "active" in PlayHQ; one registration per player; proof of age for new junior players.
- Year group: players play in their school year group. Play ups are limited to one year group and four games in the older group without League approval; the fifth game without approval is a forfeit. Play downs always need League approval.
- Team moves: after Round One a player cannot move to another team in the same club and year group unless the League approves or directs it. Players cannot play for another team in the same age group.
- Permits: a player cannot hold permits for two junior competitions in different leagues or regions on a regular weekly basis. Transfers are open 1-30 November and 1 February to 30 June, and permits are open all season. Clubs cannot charge transfer or permit fees.
- WAFL players: a player named in a WAFL/WAFLW team (not just as an emergency) cannot play junior matches that round, including earlier in the weekend.
