The NSWRL 2023 Team Managers Manual sets out this process at the game:
- The player is removed from the field with a suspected head injury (HIA) and cannot return to the field under any circumstances.
- The team manager marks HIA next to the player's name on the sign on sheet.
- The sports trainer completes the NRL Head Injury Recognition and Referral Form and an injury form, and submits the injury form to the League Administrator with the sign on sheet.
- All 3 pages of the NRL Head Injury Recognition and Referral Form go to the player, parent or carer, and the player is directed to a doctor or hospital as soon as possible for assessment.
NSWRL Policy 4.17 (2026 Policies and Procedures Manual) says NSWRL has adopted and fully endorses the NRL Community Rugby League Policy and Guidelines for the Management of Concussion.
