Under NSWRL Policy 2.21, electronic Match Day Cards (or sign on sheets) must be presented before sign on and be available at the officials / scoring table for the whole game. Team managers should check weekly that all players' and team officials' identification is available for games.
- If a player's card cannot be produced at the official table, that player should not take the field. If they do, the team is in breach of the rule.
- If a player plays without their identification at the table, the team may forfeit any competition points gained from that match, and the player and club could face disciplinary action.
- If you know before the weekend that the whole team's cards are unavailable, tell the League Administrator in time for other authorisation to be arranged.
- If you find out on game day, tell the opposing team manager before the game. The game is played first and any protest or complaint is dealt with afterwards.
- If there were extenuating reasons and all players were registered correctly, the result can be recognised. If the cause was carelessness or lack of preparation, the game can be awarded to the opposing team.
You are entitled to check players' Match Day Cards from both teams before and during a game. The inspection must be discreet and courteous, and opposing players and officials must not be cross-examined or put under duress. Compare cards with players by visual inspection while the other team signs on. Write any apprehension, concern or suspected rule breach on the back of the sign on sheet and submit an incident report to the League Administrator before 5:00pm on the Tuesday after the match.
Before each game, each team manager must check that the identification card procedures are being observed for all players, coaches, trainers, managers and unofficial touch judges, and that their names are recorded on the sign on sheet (Policy 4.36).
