Under regulation 8C of the Regulations for Safety Measures at Public Schools:
- The school must get written consent from the parent of every learner who will take part in the school activity.
- The school may not ask a parent to sign an indemnity form that protects the school against legal action arising from the activity.
So a consent form is required, but a clause in it waiving the school's liability is not allowed.
