Who: the table officials are a scorer, an assistant scorer, a timer and a shot clock operator (FIBA Article 46.2). If a commissioner is present, the commissioner sits between the scorer and the timer and supervises the table officials (Article 46.3). The referees (a crew chief and 1 or 2 umpires) are assisted by the table officials. Table officials have no authority to change the rules and must be uniformly dressed (Articles 46.5 and 46.7).
Rulebook: this FAQ follows the FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2026 (approved 23 April 2026, valid from 1 October 2026): https://assets.fiba.basketball/image/upload/documents-corporate-fiba-official-rules-2026-v1-1.pdf
Canada Basketball: its officials page at https://www.basketball.ca/en/development/officials lists FIBA Table Officials Manuals (version 6.0, 2024, and version 4.0, September 2020) and the FIBA Statisticians' Manual (2018). When that page was checked, its 5x5 rules links still pointed to the 2024 rules edition, so check the page for any newer edition before relying on a rule that changed in 2026. Canada Basketball's officiating is run by the Canadian Basketball Officials Commission.
