Under the FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2026 (Article 46), the table officials are a scorer, an assistant scorer, a timer and a shot clock operator. Table officials and referees are uniformly dressed, and have no authority to change the rules.
- Scorer: keeps the scoresheet (teams, running score, fouls, time-outs, the alternating possession arrow and head coach's challenges).
- Assistant scorer: operates the scoreboard and assists the scorer and timer.
- Timer: operates the game clock and a stopwatch, measures time-outs and intervals, shows player and team fouls, and handles substitutions and time-outs.
- Shot clock operator: starts, stops and resets the shot clock.
- Commissioner (if present): sits between the scorer and the timer and supervises the table officials.
Basketball Australia's scoretable page describes the same jobs for higher-level games, using the titles Chairperson (ensures smooth operation of the scoretable and communicates with the referees), Scorer (completes the scoresheet), Assistant Scorer (not always required; assists with the scoreboard), Timekeeper (operates the game clock and in most situations the scoreboard) and 24-second shot clock operator.
