Each segment total is the Total Element Score (TES) plus the Program Component (PC) score, plus bonuses, minus deductions.
- Elements: a Technical Controller and two Technical Specialists identify each element. Every element gets a Base Value from the Scale of Values. Each judge gives a Grade of Execution (GOE) from -5 to +5, where 0 means the element earned its normal Base Value. The panel GOE is the trimmed mean of the judges' GOEs (highest and lowest removed when there are five or more), rounded to two decimals. TES is the sum of all element scores.
- Program Components: three are marked, Composition/Timing, Presentation and Skating Skills, on a 0.25 to 10.00 scale in 0.25 steps. Each trimmed mean is multiplied by the category factor and the factored marks are added.
- Combinations: in jump combinations and sequences the Base Values are added and the GOE of the higher-Base-Value jump applies. A second solo jump has its Base Value multiplied by 0.8 (except single and double jumps in Junior and Senior singles).
- Junior and Senior singles: Base Values are multiplied by 1.1 for the last jump in the second half of the Short Program and the last three jumps in the second half of the Free Skate.
- Final result: segment totals are added for the final score.
