How do I qualify for Skate Canada Challenge and the Canadian Championships?
Rule- Canada
- Skate Canada
- Competitive skating
- Podium Pathway
- Pre-Juvenile to Senior
- 2026-27
- Skaters
The route runs through your Section's Sectional Championships (Competitions Rule 8) and then Skate Canada Challenge.
- Sectional events are mandatory for men's singles, women's singles, pairs, ice dance and solo ice dance (Pre-Novice is not mandatory for solo ice dance).
- Each Section has a quota of skaters it can send on to Skate Canada Challenge or Trophy. For example, in Women's Pre-Novice and Novice: Ontario 15, Québec 9, BC/Yukon 5, Alberta/NWT/Nunavut 5 and 3 for most other Sections. Senior Women: Ontario 14, Québec 8, BC/Yukon 5.
- Competitors must meet the minimum qualifying score published each year. If nobody in a Section meets it in a category, that Section may enter one competitor.
- You must have passed the required assessments at least three weeks before the preceding Sectional Championships.
- Canadian Championships fields are capped at 18 singles skaters, 12 pairs and 15 ice dance teams per Event. Skaters with a Bye are placed first, then the rest of the field is filled by Skate Canada Challenge results.
- Byes may be granted through Sectionals or Skate Canada Challenge, and to be considered you must register for your Sectional or Regional competition. Alternates can be called up to 48 hours before the first official practice.
