- Scorers
From the FIVB Rules 2025-2028 (Rule 18) and the scorer's duties (Rule 27.2.2.5 and 27.2.2.8).
- Intervals: every interval between sets lasts three minutes. The change of courts and the registration of line-ups on the scoresheet happen in this time. The scorer controls the interval. The interval between the second and third set can be extended up to 10 minutes by the competent body at the organiser's request.
- Change of courts: teams change courts after each set, except in the deciding set.
- Deciding set: once the leading team reaches 8 points, the teams change courts without delay and player positions stay the same. You announce the scoring of the 8th point in the deciding set to the referees. If the change is missed, it happens as soon as the error is noticed and the score at that moment stays the same.
- End of set: you announce the end of each set to the referees.
A new toss is held before a deciding set.
If a set is played to 25, it is won by the first team to 25 points with a lead of at least two. In a 24-24 tie play continues until a two-point lead is reached (26-24, 27-25 and so on). A deciding fifth set is played to 15 points with a minimum two-point lead.
If the VA Heat Mitigation Policy is in use, the handbook adds two technical time-outs at 8 and 16 points in a regular set and at the end change in the deciding set, and the Tournament Control Committee may introduce reduced scoring before the first point of the match.
