How do I record centre passes, including at the end of a quarter?
Guideline- Australia
- Netball Australia
- Bench officials
- Scorers
- Timekeepers
- 2019
- After the captains' toss, record the team taking the first centre pass in line 1 of the First Quarter Ctr Pass column, using a team abbreviation (for example E for England, J for Jamaica). Abbreviations for the two teams must be offset on opposite sides of the box.
- After each goal, record the centre pass alternately. In Australia the preferred approach is to wait until the umpire has blown the whistle for the centre pass before writing it down.
- Always record each attempt or goal from the left hand side of its box, and start each new quarter on the left hand side.
- At the end of a quarter, if the final centre pass produced no activity, rule a line through the middle of the row. If there was activity (or a goal), rule a line immediately under the final pass taken.
- As soon as the quarter ends, check the next centre pass with Scorer 2. The umpires then come to the Official Bench and advise the next centre pass, which should match your records. Write that team at the start of the next quarter's column.
