- Off-ice officials
The on-ice officials decide, regardless of what the horn, clock or goal light shows.
- A goal counts only if the puck has completely crossed the goal line between the posts and under the crossbar before the period expired.
- The Referee has final say on disputed goals, after consulting the linespersons and any goal judges.
- If the goal light comes on in error during play, the Referee will ask at the next stoppage for the reason the goal was disallowed to be announced.
If the clock malfunctions, note the time it happened and tell the Referee at the next normal stoppage. The Referee settles any dispute about time, and that decision is final.
