Am I the official pitch count recorder?

Often, yes. Each league must designate the scorekeeper or another game official as the official pitch count recorder, so it's either you or someone your league names for each game.
The official pitch count recorder must:
- give the current pitch count for any pitcher when a manager or umpire asks, and
- tell the umpire-in-chief when a pitcher reaches their daily maximum. The umpire then tells the pitcher's manager.
The manager stays responsible for knowing when their pitcher must come out, even if no one tells them. If there's a question about pitcher eligibility, the umpire may consult the scorekeeper and pitch count recorder, so keep your records neat and dated.
