Not to run as an individual. Under UKA Rule G2 S1(6), unattached runners, and club members running as individuals rather than as part of a club team, are excluded from the registration requirement in road running.
To score for a club team, you must be registered: in an open team road race, athletes must be registered in the current year with their home country federation to compete as a first-claim athlete (UKA Rule TR55 S3).
Team results: organisers must declare in advance which team awards are on offer and how they are decided. Teams can be ranked by the lowest total of finishing positions or the lowest aggregate time of the scoring runners; gun-to-finish times take priority unless wave starts are used. Organisers say whether teams must be declared before the start.
Registration also brings the race entry discount for affiliated club members.
