Approximate distances in the 2026 playing regulations:
- Novice boys and girls: 4 km
- Junior boys and girls: 5 km
- Senior boys and girls: 6 km
- Para Race (Open): 4 km
A 400 m tolerance is permitted in each race. The 2026 course is built from a 2 km loop and a 3 km loop, and the OFSAA course page gives Garmin-measured distances of 4192 m (4 km), 5140 m (5 km) and 5990 m (6 km). The junior 5000 m race runs the 3000 m loop followed by the 2000 m loop.
