How do mixed Masters crews work?

Under Appendix 7, mixed events may be held for Masters crews in which half of the crew, excluding the coxswain, are women and half are men. The coxswain may be of either gender.

At the Australian Masters Rowing Championships:

• Boat classes: mixed events are offered in 2x, 4x, 4+ and 8+.
• Format: mixed events are run as handicapped divisions rather than heats and finals, and medals are awarded for each division, not to each event or age category within the division.
• Grades: Appendix 9 lists mixed events for grades AB, C, D, E, FG and H to M.
