Ponies are measured under British Showjumping's measuring rules, in metric.
| Category | Maximum without shoes | Maximum with shoes |
|---|---|---|
| 128cm | 128cm | 128.9cm |
| 138cm | 138cm | 138.9cm |
| 148cm | 148.9cm | 149.9cm |
The 148cm limits match the FEI's. An animal over 148.9cm unshod or 149.9cm shod can't be registered as a pony.
- Certificates: a pony that measures in at 8 years or older gets a Lifetime certificate. A younger pony gets an Interim certificate valid for 15 months.
- FEI certificates are accepted for 148cm ponies. 128cm and 138cm ponies with an FEI certificate needed a British Showjumping height certificate by 31 May 2026 (free of charge).
- When a pony's points first go over 300, the owner is given 12 months to get a valid measurement.
- Ponies at the major championships must hold a valid height certificate before entering.
- British Showjumping can carry out random measuring at junior shows. A pony that measures out can't compete again until it has a valid certificate.
