Every player and team official taking part in games provided by Hockey Canada and its Members must be a Registered Participant on a team roster that is itself registered with Hockey Canada. Before taking part in any League or championship game they must be registered with the Member in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) and validated by the Member Executive Director or their designate for the current playing season. Team officials who wish to play must also be registered on an approved player registration.
An MHA or team registering players submits the required information in the HCR for the Member Executive Director's validation and approval. Those submissions are deemed to be made by the signing officers of that organization.
Registration for the upcoming season for Junior and Senior teams in non-Female Divisions starts on June 1. Members cannot approve such registrations before June 1.
Members may write their own registration rules for Divisions and Categories other than those in Regulation M.3, including whether players can register on teams in both Female and non-Female Divisions.
