How long are the quarters, intermissions and overtime periods?

Question

Accepted Answer

For high school teams: Period Length Quarters Four of 8 minutes Between quarters 1-2 and 3-4 1 minute Halftime 10 minutes (may be extended to a maximum of 15 minutes with proper notification) Overtime 4 minutes, with a 1-minute intermission before each Overtime is played without changing baskets, and as many extra periods as needed are played until the tie is broken. Extra periods are an extension of the fourth quarter (so fourth-quarter team fouls carry over). For teams younger than high school age, quarters are 6 minutes. Non-varsity overtime is half the length of a regulation quarter.
