From the SSA 2026 U16 National Water Polo Championship rules:
- Only technical officials registered with SSA for the current season may officiate.
- Referees are invited by the local organising committee; teams share the referees' travel, meals and accommodation costs equally.
- Dress: black shorts, black closed shoes and the tournament shirt.
- A referees' workshop is held the day before the tournament, and attendance is compulsory for all participating referees.
- Referees are in absolute control of the game, with authority over players, team officials and spectators from the moment they enter until they leave the venue.
Those championship rules applied the World Aquatics rules in force from 1 July 2025, with the SSA by-law of a 3-minute half-time interval. This guide follows the February 2026 edition of the World Aquatics rules.
