- Referees
Under Law 6, every match is under the control of the referee and two touch judges or assistant referees.
- Within the playing enclosure, you and the other appointed match officials are the sole judge of fact and of law during a match, and must apply the laws fairly.
- You keep the time (you may delegate it) and the score.
- You control the assistant referees or touch judges: you tell them their duties and may overrule their decisions. You may also alter a decision after a flag has been raised for touch or touch-in-goal, or after foul play has been signalled.
- If a touch judge is unsatisfactory you may ask for a replacement.
- You may consult the assistant referees on their duties, foul play and timekeeping, and may request help with other aspects of your duties.
- If a match organiser appoints a television match official, that official clarifies matters such as grounding in in-goal and foul play.
- Unless the organiser appoints them, each team provides a touch judge.
