How does the course symbol system work (for example LRA2)?

Sail Canada's course diagrams follow the World Sailing convention. A course signal has up to three letter groups, at most one letter per group and in this order, followed by a single digit giving the number of beats:
- Course type: L (leeward finish), M (leeward finish, starboard roundings), W (windward finish), I (inner trapezoid), O (outer trapezoid), T (triangle, finish mid-beat), X (other)
- Finish type: R (reaching after port rounding), G (reaching after starboard rounding), S (slalom), L and W (triangles only)
- Modifier: A (offset mark at the windward end)
Example: LRA2 is a windward/leeward course with a reaching finish, an offset mark at the windward end, and two windward legs.
