Observers are non-player officials who can track time limits, resolve disputes when asked (or when players can't resolve them in a timely way), and make active rulings such as lines and offsides, as set by the event. By playing under observers, you agree to abide by their decisions. You can overrule an observer only to your own team's detriment.
The 2026-2027 misconduct system (Appendix C), used only in observed games:
| Card | Given to | For |
|---|---|---|
| Technical foul | Team | Minor conduct issues |
| Blue card | Team | Conduct that affects competitiveness or Spirit |
| Yellow card | Individual | Egregious conduct; a formal warning |
| Red card | Individual | Conduct warranting immediate suspension |
Key consequences:
- Any observer-ruled or uncontested dangerous play gets a yellow card.
- A yellow card also gives the team one blue card; a red card gives the team two blue cards (new in 2026-2027).
- A team's 3rd technical foul, or 3rd blue card, triggers a Team Misconduct Penalty (yardage).
- Two yellows or one red in a game = suspended for the rest of that game. If it happens in the second half, the suspension also covers the first half of your team's next game. A suspended player must stay at least 100 yards from the field.
- Three yellows, a yellow plus a red, or two reds in a tournament = suspended for the rest of the tournament.
- on one team in a game (a red counts as two) = that team forfeits.
